    Short history: Founded in 1858 as Caledonian Society of Victoria, renamed Caledonian Society of Melbourne in 1884. Assisted in the foundation of the Victorian Scottish Regiment in 1895. Sponsored Robert Burns statue in St. Kilda Road in 1904. Assisted in the formation of the Victorian Scottish Union in 1905. The Royal Charter was granted to the Society in 1921. The Society’s history “Scots Wha Hae” was published in 1949.
